In a keynote packed with major announcements, CEO Jensen Huang unveiled a dual assault on the market involving both cutting-edge automotive software and powerhouse computing hardware. The scope of the reveal underscored Nvidia’s influence across multiple sectors.
The headline grabber on the software side was Alpamayo, a reasoning AI for autonomous vehicles. Huang described it as a breakthrough that allows cars to “think” and navigate complex environments with human-like intuition. This technology is already hitting the production line in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, with the new CLA model set to debut in the US market within months.
On the hardware front, Nvidia introduced the Vera Rubin chip platform. These chips are designed to keep the company ahead of rivals like AMD and Google. With promises of five times the computing power for AI apps and a tenfold increase in token generation efficiency, the Rubin chips are poised to set a new standard for data center performance.
Huang also revealed the scale at which these chips can operate, showing off “pods” that string together more than 1,000 Rubin chips. This level of scalability is essential for training the massive AI models of the future. The proprietary nature of the data processing used by these chips further cements Nvidia’s “walled garden” strategy.
