‘Wake Up Dead Man’ Promises a Return to Form for the Classic Whodunit

by admin477351

For fans of classic mystery, the first teaser for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery promises a glorious return to form. The clip sets up a quintessential whodunit: a shocking murder, a confined location (a church), a brilliant detective, and a limited circle of fascinating suspects.

Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc is the modern-day Poirot or Holmes, faced with an “impossible” crime that will test his little grey cells: the murder of a priest (Josh Brolin) during Mass. The teaser suggests a film that respects the traditions of the genre while giving them a fresh, contemporary spin.

The circle of suspects is brought to life by a cast worthy of an Agatha Christie novel, including Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, and Jeremy Renner. The film’s style, including Blanc’s dapper new suit, also harkens back to the golden age of detective fiction.

The film has already premiered at TIFF, building anticipation for its public release. This classic whodunit will be available in select theaters from November 26th and on Netflix from December 12th.
