‘egregious behavior’: Trump’s words as he halts Canada talks

by admin477351

“egregious behavior” is the reason president Donald Trump gave for his decision to “hereby terminate” all trade negotiations with Canada.

The behavior in question was a tv ad from Ontario that used a 1987 clip of Ronald Reagan  warning against tariffs. Trump called the ad “fake” and “fraudulent.”

He claimed on truth social that the ad was an attempt to influence US supreme court hearings on his 35% tariffs on Canadian  goods.

The ad has also been criticized by the Ronald Reagan  Presidential Foundation for using “selective audio” to “misrepresent” the full speech.

The halt in talks, confirmed by secretary of state Marco Rubio, escalates the trade war and jeopardizes a vital economic partnership for both nations.
