‘A New Wednesday with an Old Heart’: Pedersen’s Rallying Cry

Manager Henrik Pedersen has issued a rallying cry to his beleaguered club, saying, “We have to be a new Sheffield Wednesday with an old heart.” His comments came after the club entered administration and was docked 12 points, sinking them to -6.

The penalty, 15 points from safety, makes survival a monumental challenge. But Pedersen, who has been dealing with the fallout of unpaid wages and a depleted squad, is not giving up. “We will keep fighting,” he vowed.

The administration signals the end of Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership, which fans have long protested. The Supporters Trust, “overjoyed” at his exit, called the day “bittersweet” due to the points deduction. Seats with Chansiri’s name were promptly removed.

Administrator Begbies Traynor is now in control, marketing the club and Hillsborough stadium as a package. They met with “emotional” staff on Friday, with Pedersen hopeful job losses can be avoided.

The Supporters Trust is also looking forward, ending its “phase of resistance” and calling for a “phase of renewal.” Fans are being urged to return to the stadium to provide desperately needed income.
