Anthropic’s cutting-edge artificial intelligence model, Claude Mythos, is now being utilized by around 150 organizations spanning over 15 countries, including governmental bodies and financial institutions in Japan, to enhance cybersecurity measures. These entities have gained access to the AI system for testing and research purposes, contingent on stringent security protocols. This initiative aims to bolster defenses by identifying potential vulnerabilities in digital infrastructures.

Japan’s Finance Minister, Satsuki Katayama, has acknowledged the involvement of Japanese government institutions and numerous banks in this groundbreaking program. Katayama emphasized the significance of this development as a proactive measure to counter future cybersecurity threats. The advanced AI model, Claude Mythos, is part of the “frontier AI” category, characterized by its ability to pinpoint weaknesses in intricate digital networks, thereby serving as a powerful tool in cybersecurity research. In addition to Japan, the European Union has also gained access to Claude Mythos, with the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) set to join the program.
